This book collects the letters written by Harold Rosher during the war years from August 1914 up to his death at age 22 in February 1916. These letters provide a uniquely personal glimpse of one young man's experiences during World War One - all the more fascinating as they document a period early in the development of the aircraft as a weapon of war. As the Introduction states: "[The letters] are spontaneous and utterly unstudied documents, and they have been printed almost exactly as Harold wrote them. Many of them are quite ordinary; most are spiced with slang; the long ones describing his share in the great historic raids are thrillingly dramatic."
