  • Don Juan

    Lord George Gordon Byron

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Feb. 8, 2015)
“All who joy would win Must share it -- Happiness was born a twin.” --- George Gordon Byron, Don Juan Don Juan is a satiric poem by Lord Byron, based on the legend of Don Juan, which Byron reverses, portraying Juan not as a womaniser but as someone easily seduced by women. It is a variation on the epic form. Byron himself called it an "Epic Satire" (Don Juan, c. xiv, st. 99). Byron completed 16 cantos, leaving an unfinished 17th canto before his death in 1824. Byron claimed he had no ideas in his mind as to what would happen in subsequent cantos as he wrote his work. When the first two cantos were published anonymously in 1819, the poem was criticised for its 'immoral content', though it was also immensely popular.

The authorities have spent a long time trying to catch Knightly Nightmare, the Master Criminal of the night realm, and tonight Tall and Titch of the Sleep Patrol will try again. He is not impressed with the time it is taking to catch Knightly Nightmare and his interruptions with Tall and Titch eventually lead them to seek help from their friend Snoozer. At the same time Bormore and Alfie are struggling down the Star Stream when suddenly Bormore vanishes and Alfie has to carry on alone for a while. Eventually a strange twist of fate reunites them and they run to escape into Dream Space. The Dangerous Dream Division have other ideas and arrest Alfie believing him to be Knightly Nightmare, and in the midst of this activity a rather guilty Bormore sneaks away to safety. Will Bormore reveal his stunning secret? Will anyone believe him if he does? And most importantly of all, will Alfie get to go home?Only Sir Sleep Alot knows the answer to that last question as he has planned a siege that will mean nobody goes anywhere, until Alfie finds a way to fight back in the very centre of the court room.
