  • A Treatise On Algebra: Arithmetical Algebra

    George Peacock

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

  • Peck's Uncle Ike and the Red Headed Boy

    George W. Peck

Hardcover (Thompson & Thomas, Chicago, Jan. 1, 1901)
In this 217 page book the Red Headed Boy makes life miserable for his Uncle Ike. This is not unlike how Peck's Bad Boy tortured all the adults in his life. In 1899 the Peck's Uncle Ike and the Red Headed Boy stories were running in the Peck's Sun newspaper. The text of all the book formats of this title are identical. A picture of George W. Peck is the frontispiece. There are twenty-five full page line drawn illustrations (including the frontispiece) done by Ike Morgan. Morgan (1871-1913), a native of St. Louis, was a well known illustrator of children's books. He illustrated the Woggle-Bug Book which was written by L. Frank Baum of Wizard of Oz fame. He also worked with several New York newspapers. The first format cover has a picture of a seahorse as well as several letters on the bottom left of the chair. These are indicators that the cover was designed and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. Denslow is best known as the illustrator of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In the early 1900's he was the head of the illumination department for the Roycroft Press. His cover work frequently features a seahorse. ( On line description)
  • Peck's Uncle Ike and The Red Headed Boy

    George W. Peck

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 24, 2015)
"Here, Uncle Ike, let me give you a nice piece of paper, twisted up beautifully, to light your pipe," said the red-headed boy, as Uncle Ike, with his long clay pipe, filled with ill-smelling tobacco, was feeling in his vest pocket for a match. "I should think nice white paper would be sweeter to light a pipe with than a greasy old match scratched on your pants," and the boy lighted a taper and handed it to the old man.
