What would you do if you suddenly found out that you have been animated? You are not human, but you are human. Other people and their feelings and emotions run through you. You feel the others. Can you make thefeeling your own? Can you learn to be human? This is what Eve faces. She is the last of the animators created by Dr. Stein, and she is the most perfect, but Eve does not feel perfect. The other animators hate her and conspire against her because her simple presence points out their faults. Eve is perfect on the outside, but feels like a failure on the inside. As she takes classes on learning to be human at Prometheus Academy, Eve begins to control her emotions, act human, and think like a teenage girl. Even more important, she finds a kindred spirit in Adam., a fellow animator, perfect just like her. As graduation nears, the two plan to escape into the human world—something expressly forbidden for animators—but have they learned to be human and will they be able to pass? Their safety and future depends on them being able to function as humans, leaving behind the notion of being created from parts and put together in a laboratory. Outside, they meet Simon and his band of renegades, who are trying to live a better life in the cities. At least that is what he claims. Adam does not trust Simon and as there are rewards for turning in animators. Are they safe with Simon? Tensions build between Simon and Adam and Eve must make the very human choice of whom she cares for more and what that means.
