  • Infantia

    Thomas Frederik Wolf

    language (, Dec. 25, 2017)
Over Centuries, the wizards of old have controlled the kingdoms on the feonic continent, until the carolingian rebellion put a sudden end to their rule. Now, the people crave for calmer times, but another storm is gathering on the horizon. In the west, a war of succession for the crown reaches far past the borders of the empire and pushes a refugee-wave into the lands. Many of the hunted look for a new life, but only find one as outlaws, forced into crime. From the north, the coastal regions are threatened by barbarian hordes that might once again rain upon the lands in another invasion. And in the heart of the empire, a new conflict arises. A conflict, which might shatter the balance of nations. In the middle of this maelstrom of conflicts and intrigues, the young Fox Avørn grows up. Coming closer to his ascension, he stumbles into a plot that not only will change his life, the one of his house or of the people in the lands, but of the whole empire in its core. Fox tries to resist the heralds of hatred and darkness with all his strength, while he works through his own changes. The changes accompanying the last weeks of his youth as his Infantia ends.

  • Italian Popular Tales

    Thomas Frederick Crane

Paperback (Forgotten Books, June 26, 2012)
The growing interest in the popular tales of Europe has led me to believe that a selection from those of Italy would be entertaining to the general reader, and valuable to the student of comparative folk-lore. The stories which, with but few exceptions, are here presented for the first time to the English reader, have been translated from recent Italian collections, and are given exactly as they were taken down from the mouths of the people, and it is in this sense, belonging to the people, that the word popular is used in the title of this work. I have occasionally changed the present to the past tense, and slightly condensed by the omission of tiresome repetitions ;but otherwise my versions follow the original closely, too closely perhaps in the case of the Sicilian tales, which, when recited, are very dramatic, but seem disjointed and abrupt when read. The notes are intended to supplement those of Pitre and Kohler by citing the stories published since the Fiabe, Novelle e Racconti, and the Sicilianische Marchen, and also to furnish easy reference to the parallel stories of the rest of Europe. As the notes are primarily intended for students I have simply pointed out the most convenient sources of information and those to which I have had ac Other condensations are indicated by brackets.(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)About the Publisher Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, History, Folklore and Mythology.Forgotten Books' Classic Reprint Series utilizes the latest technology to regenerate facsimiles of historically important writings.
