Though Montgomery is best known for her stories about a goat called Billy Whiskers, this short novel about Zip the dog also captivates the attention of young readers and is ranked as one of the most popular children's books of all times.The principle character of the novel is Zip, a little fox terrier who lives in Maplewood with his owner, a doctor. He frequently accompanies his master on his trips to visit patients, and he not only entertains his master during these journeys, but he also gathers and passes on information and the latest news in the animal kingdom and gets involved in all kinds of mischief. We see Zip do everything a tiny fox terrier is expected to do: he tries to solve a case of burglary, he snatches fried chicken from a picnic, he gets stuck in tight places and fights with other animals, too.The book is perfect for kids who already love dogs and for those who don't love them yet. This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work.
