A complete curriculum about Protists for ages 10-15. Includes an 80-page student text with chapters on Paramecia, ciliates, flagellates, green algae, filamentous algae, diatoms, dinoflagellates, ameboids of all kinds, and an epilogue about protozoans that can make us sick. The text is lively and interesting, and filled with humorous cartoon characters, so these would-be-boring topics will be fascinating and fun for the students. Each chapter ends with some word puzzles, with special emphasis on the Greek and Latin words that appeared in that chapter. The 80+ pages of the teacher's section has plenty of high-content games and crafts. Carbon Chemistry is an introduction to organic chemistry and biochemistry for ages 9-14. It is intended as a follow-up to "The Elements" by the same author, but can be used separately if the student has some basic knowledge of chemistry and the Periodic Table. The first section is a student booklet of eleven chapters, covering topics such as the carbon atom, hydrocarbons, alkanes and alkenes, functional groups, soaps, plastics, rubber, nylon, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, DNA and the carbon cycle. Despite the "heavy" nature of the topics, the text is light, easy-to-read and even humorous in many places. Some written activities and review questions are provided at the end of each chapter. The second section is a teacher's guide that provides additional activities including games, songs, recipes, experiments, skits, and crafts.

This is an in-depth introduction to neurology for ages 8-14. The first 96 pages are a student text broken into 10 chapters. Each chapter has two levels so that students of varying ages, abilities, and interest levels can use the same curriculum. Topics covered are brain anatomy (including inner brain and ventricles), left/right brain, neuron anatomy and physiology (including types of glial cells), neuronal networks, memory, learning, peripheral nervous system, autonomic systems, senses, reflexes, blood-brain barrier, sleep, brain disorders and famous doctors and patients. The text is high-content but easy to understand. (Cartoon characters in the margins add plenty of humor, too!) At the end of each chapter there are some activities such as word puzzles, review questions, coloring activities and suggestions for supplemental videos (via a special channel on YouTube). The 40-page teacher section gives instructions for activities such as board games, active group games, crafts, and labs. Ideal for use in a group (because of so many game suggestions) but also great for home use as well.

This is the student portion of the full curriculum "Protozoa; A Poseidon Adventure!" by the same author. The full-curriculum book (sells for over $20) contains one copy of the student text. This student booklet is intended for use by groups who need multiple copies of the student portion but not extra copies of the full curriculum that has the teacher's section.
