Edward Gazsi is a gifted and award winning illustrator who has focused on children’s books in the last twenty years of his career. His artistic vision and attention to fine detail bring a visual treasury to each of his paintings. “Penelope’s Blue Pearl” is a fairy tale for all ages. A beautiful princess, a little boy, a nasty gremlin, and animals galore play their part in an exciting adventure. In the tale we find the little princess leaving her own beautiful kingdom in a quest that takes her to places both strange and full of danger. Throughout her journeys a magical blue pearl brings unexpected results. Of course, a villain has to be part of the story. And you won’t be disappointed at the wily actions of an ugly gremlin who brings havoc in the life of the princess. Will Princess Penelope overcome the dangers of a dark forest and an ancient castle? Will she survive the perils of wild animals that lace her journey? The book has a wonderful moral and conclusion. Friendships and sharing are part of the lessons that unlock the secrets in the book. Of course we hope for a happy ending! As to Mr. Gazsi’s artwork, each painting in the book is a gem on its own. For girls and boys, five and above, this is a must read. Adults will enjoy the artwork along with all children. And to make matters really fun, a little mouse is hidden in nearly every illustration. Finding him can be a real challenge. Who will be the first to do so?
