Excerpt from The Rational Method in Reading: An Original Presentation of Sight and Sound Work That Leads Rapidly to Independent and Intelligent ReadingThe special purpose of the Primer and the first two Readers in this series is to put the child, within a year and a half from his entrance into school, into possession of a complete key to English Reading; so that, should his schooling then cease, his ability to read would nevertheless grow with his growth and strengthen with his strength. The method here introduced is a combination of the word (or sentence) method and the phonetic method. It differs in many essential respects from any before presented, the differences being based upon principles not hitherto clearly understood, or, at any rate, not properly recognized.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • The Rational Method in Reading: An Original Presentation of Sight and Sound Work That Leads Rapidly to Independent and Intelligent Reading. Manual of Instruction, for the Use of Teachers

    Edward G. Ward

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, Aug. 21, 2017)
About the Book A consumer guide is a book (or pamphlet) that advises consumers in relation to their purchases of goods and services. Also in this Book An encyclopedia (encyclopaedia) is a reference book that provides brief summaries of general knowledge or of a specialized field or discipline. Encyclopedias are comprised of topics that are generally arranged alphabetically but sometimes thematically. The entries are longer and more detailed than in most dictionaries. While encyclopedias have existed for 2,000 years, Chambers' Cyclopaedia (1728), the Encyclopédie of Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert (1751 onwards), and the Encyclopædia Britannica were the first to be presented in a form that we would recognize today. And in this Book Teaching methods comprise the principles and methods that are used by teachers to facilitate learning by students. Strategies are determined both by the subject matter to be taught and the characteristics of the student. While today’s schools encourage creativity, this was not always the case.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!

  • The rational method in reading; an original presentation of sight and sound work ..

    Edward G. Ward

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
