    Edward Bouverie Pusey

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Augustine of Hippo (13 November 354 – 28 August 430), also known as Saint Augustine was an early Christian theologian whose. Once Bishop of Hippo Regius located in the Roman province of Africa, he is viewed a significant Church Fathers whose writings were created in the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. Along with Confessions of Saint Augustine, City of God was accredited to his most noble work, which continue to be read widely today. According to his contemporary, Jerome, Augustine "established anew the ancient Faith." In β€œThe Confessions of Saint Augustine,” Augustine tells of his youthful sexual improprieties, and tells why he rejected Manicheanism and Astrology, leading to his conversion to Christianity at age 32. After his conversion to Christianity and his baptism in 387, Augustine developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, accommodating a variety of methods and different perspectives. Believing that the grace of Christ was indispensable to human freedom, he helped to formulate the doctrine of original sin and made seminal contributions to the development of just war theory.
