Your child may be learning to read or may be reading at the basic level. An older child may have mastered the basics and is ready for a higher level. Regardless, reading together with your child works wonders. Reading and looking at books together builds a bond between you and your child and provides an opportunity and the springboard for discussion of other areas that need development. Pictures attract children and provide more of an incentive to learn than just words on a page. How will this book help you as a parent, grandparent, or mentor? It will provide a system, method, and guide to your child’s involvement in perhaps a new area of learning. A good way to use this book is to look through the book first with the child, then go back through it again, reading and discussing along the way. When opportunity presents, encourage the child to read, with your assistance. Some larger words and insect names are spelled phonetically to help younger readers learn pronunciation. (Note: Not all words follow dictionary syllable separation, and are done to help a child pronounce them the way they sound when spoken.)Another option is for you to read a passage and then have your child read that passage. Alternatively, you can read a passage then let the child read the next passage. Remember, having fun reading together is most important. Humor and fun can create a delightful environment for easy learning. This book is designed and dedicated to shared reading. Many different groups (Orders) of insects and other Arthropods are featured in this book. These amazing photographs, from the insect world, will amaze and inspire your child. Some fascinating technical facts are introduced to excite, thrill, and delight a child.Using the section, HOW MUCH DID YOU LEARN, at the end of this book, is a simple and fun way to determine how much information your child has learned about insect names and other associated words and pronunciation. There is an open star with each entry. When your child learns to correctly pronounce the word, you can reinforce learning by allowing the child to color the star. This method shows progress, a key to the encouragement of learning. Use every opportunity during the shared reading to develop your own questions from the material to quiz your child and promote development. I wish you fun and enjoyment with your child.
