She has a couple of big problems. First of all, she has a stepmother Priscilla, who used to be her spinster schoolmistress aunt. Clara resents that her late mother's older sister has not only married her father but is about to have a baby. To make matters worse, "Prissy Priscilla" keeps trying to make the rambunctious, clever, and witty Clara act like a proper young lady. Secondly, Clara has red hair, making her a target for teasing by a handsome older boy, Dickon Weeks, and by her pretty 17-year-old "Dread Cousin Hetty". Clara, however, has a secret plan she hopes will change this. During the last week of June, 1825, Clara's town is abuzz because the famous General Lafayette is about to visit their state during his farewell tour of America. In those eventful seven days, Clara learns a lot about her family, Hetty, Dickon, herself, and about Lafayette. She comes to understand the huge and vital role the young French aristocrat played in America's Revolutionary War and to see that her problems might not be quite so terrible after all.

  • Swiss Mandala Coloring Book: 20 mandalas to be colored by you!

    Dorothea Chan

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 1, 2017)
This book is suitable for children and adults! You can see all the emblems of the Swiss Cantons in the title mandala. The famous Matterhorn mountain appears in two mandalas. There are plenty of Alpine flowers in a few mandalas and the Edelweiss is of course the special one of them! I took a photo of the cat on one of my visits to Switzerland. She posed for me and I painted her in a mandala. The swans I photographed at lake Zurich and used them for a mandala. I added other flower mandalas: Narcissi field, rose, Lily of the Field, wild orchid. On one of the mandalas I put the Swiss anthem, a Swiss chalet, an alpine herdsman with alphorn, marmot and an alpine ibex. Also, I drew the church of Dittingen BL, the village where I grew up! The mandalas are taken from my following books: MY CREATIONS I LOVE YOU GOLDEN AGE MANDALAS SPRING AND SUMMER FUN MANDALA UTOPIA MAGICAL MANDALAS MANDALA FUN I wish you lots of fun while coloring!
