A decade or so ago, most schools began furnishing or renting books. It became difficult for parents to find something to use at home, either for help or enrichment. And schools didn't want parents messing around with the new math, the new English, and the difficult reading process. Parents weren't too eager anyway-- they didn't understand the new math, they were busy achieving for themselves, and the materials simply weren't there unless the school sent home a book. Parents also felt uneasy as teachers even though they had unconsciously taught their child everything up to the point of school entrance-- walking, talking, values, behaviors, the dog's name, what to eat, when to go to bed and when to get up. And parents continue to teach until the child leaves the home. So here we are today, when schools are now asking the parent to become involved, and today's parent is eager to do just that. They'll learn that anyone can learn anything, given enough time, that patience is important, clarity of directions is important, and attitudes are important-- the parent-teacher and the child's. The School Zone concept is a continuous curriculum, from preschool puzzles, to first grade reading through sixth grade math. School Zone materials are organized for the parent, directions simply stated, illustrations clear and fun. The teaching workbook series has been written by specialists to emphasize the basic objectives of each grade level-- yet the work is fun! You as a parent can teach, when you join up with School Zone, the home learning specialists. [Text from back cover]
