  • The Fat Boy Chronicles

    Diane Lang

eBook (Sleeping Bear Press, Nov. 12, 2010)
It's bad enough being the new kid, but as a freshman, Jimmy finds school less enjoyable than many of his classmates. Standing 5'5" and weighing 187 pounds, he's subjected to a daily barrage of taunts and torments. His only sources of comfort are his family, his youth group, and his favorite foods. When his English teacher assigns a journal as a writing project, Jimmy chronicles not only his struggles but also his aspirations - to lose weight and win the girl of his dreams. Inspired by a true story and told in first-person journal entries, The Fat Boy Chronicles brings to life the pain and isolation felt by many overweight teenagers as they try to find their way in a world obsessed with outward beauty.
  • Easy to Kill you Bitch: In the cross-hairs of SA's elite law enforcement - code named Operation Dynamite

    Dianne Lang

language (Songololo Publishing, Aug. 18, 2017)
No good deed goes unpunished. From human rights activist for children to suspect, this book takes you on a journey of bewildering raids, seizures, interrogations and death threats and brings an end to Saving Mandela's Children. This had to be written because the author needed the catharsis and the world needs to know how the South African government operates when they have you in their sights.
  • Saving Mandela's Children

language (Songololo Publishing, Oct. 15, 2011)
This is a true story of South Africa's unwanted children. No names have been changed to protect those involved. The events in this book have been recorded as honestly and as accurately as I can manage. These events led to huge frustration and anger. The occasional use of strong language is an honest reflection of that frustration and anger. Dianne Lang is a Human Rights Activist for children who worked extensively with abandoned, abused, neglected and orphaned children in South Africa. Her bold dedication to the freedom of the children in South Africa has made her a target of political torture and extreme human rights abuses. In her own words she says, “This book had to be written because the terrible failings of the system had to be exposed and because I needed a catharsis relevant to the lives and deaths of these deeply hurt and innocent children”. This book will offer little comfort in the stories that I have recorded and remembered; there is sadly much for the beloved country to cry!

  • Saving Mandela's Children: The true story of South Africa's unwanted children

    Dianne Lang

    (AuthorHouse, Sept. 24, 2007)
This book is a passionate cry from the heart. From the heart of someone who has given almost everything she has to the cause of justice and happiness for heavily-abused children and for HIV/AIDS sufferers, and from the heart of the real, here-and-now, South Africa - no pretence, no frills, exactly as it is, with supporting evidence. The people are all real people, with their real names; the incompetence, the neglect of duty, the corruption, the malevolence, the despair - and the goodness, the tenderness, the devotion to a cause, the trust and the joy - are all real. Writing the book has been an extremely draining and highly emotional experience, and this inevitably shows through in much of the text. But it had to be written, because the terrible failings of the 'system' have to be exposed, because the author needed the catharsis, and above all because the lives - and deaths - of these deeply hurt but irresistible children needed to be recorded and remembered. Here there is little for your comfort and much cause for the beloved country to cry.
