It seems that this town was destined to die early, but then something remarkable happened. As the story goes, apparently a young prospector went into the mountains and found this ore that was very rare and would bring in vast amounts of revenue for the town. No one knew where it came from, only that it seemed to appear when the town was close to being abandoned. From that day on, things in the town improved considerably and we saw growth for the first time. This growth continued its trend with the opening of the box plant.The plant and the mine gave enough work to the townspeople that they began to need more people to sustain the demand for the ore. A recruitment went into place in the 60’s and soon many more came to feed off the good fortune of the town. I was born in this town in the early 90’s and when I was old enough I started working at the mine and then took on a managers role at the plant. I realized a few years later that I had the skills to live off the land and decided on a major lifestyle choice.
