She found her ancestors not only held the answers to the texture of her hair, but also the reason her friends ridiculed her physical features. She learned through adversity how to embrace and celebrate her hair as well as her culture.

School hadn’t been the best experience Destiny has had in her short life. Between cliques, snobs, betrayals and bullies, she found comfort in being alone. Although she hated it, she thought she had the whole teen age life thing figured out. Until she met the new girl, Jizette. Was their meeting a coincidence or was it meant to be? Although Destiny had settled into her isolated lifestyle, Jizette, always keeping things 100, showed her what it meant to have a real friend. Not only did she change the way Destiny viewed friendships and the students at school, she helped her find answers to why she always felt alone.
