Becoming a superhero sounds great… until your older brother becomes a super villain.Nate Holland has a lousy memory, he’s just barely graduated from elementary school, and he is bullied constantly by his twin older brothers, Chet and Robert. Nate knows that if he tells on them, he’s dead, so he endures days filled with noogies, wedgies, and far more elaborate pranks. The only one who has ever stood up for Nate is Hannah, a girl in the neighborhood who clearly has troubles of her own.Things change, though, when Mr. Magellan, the owner of the local comic book shop, gives Nate an herbal supplement that is supposed to help with memory problems. Nate is hesitant at first, but when he gets in trouble for forgetting a chore, he takes the first pill. Nate suddenly has perfect recollection and an unexpected side effect: he can access his memories of his favorite comic book heroes and copy their superpowers. Now Nate is able to escape his brothers with abilities that range from invisibility to psychic powers. But Chet won’t stand for it, and when he raises the stakes, Hannah and others are put in danger. To save them, Nate will need to learn the secret of the pills and to rethink what rules he is willing to follow, and what sacrifices he is willing to make.
