Hippity Hoppity was a white kangaroo who had been saved as a joey when his mother died. He was saved by a kind mother and daughter, and he was raised in a small suburban backyard. When Hippity Hoppity grew too big, he was released and given his freedom into the Australian bush.After quite a few adventures, Hippity Hoppity decided to go exploring and was happily hopping along when a big red buck kangaroo showed him his powerful chest. Hippity Hoppity had no wish to fight him, so he continued on his way only to meet up with him again at a later date.He came to a row of houses that reminded him of where he used to live. There he met the most beautiful kangaroo he had ever seen. She was being treated with cruelty by her owner, who chased Hippity Hoppity away when he was talking to her. It was love at first sight for both of them. Hippity Hoppity told his friends, Hiss and Swish, that he was in love with a lovely kangaroo who called herself Jumper and intended to try to get her to escape if she wanted to. And the following morning, he hopped back to Jumper’s to try to help her escape, which he did.

This is an educational childrens story for children from five to twelve years of age. It is about a white kangaroo who was rescued as a joey by a mother and daughter in a suburban home. But the white kangaroo, Hippity Hoppity, got too big; so they decided to let him go in the bush. Hippity Hoppity was unsure what to eat, and when two little girls fed him some branches off a tree, he passed out. Cleverly, the little girls made a sled from their backpacks and dragged him to a doctor. The doctor managed to dislodge the leaves and drove Hippity Hoppity and the exhausted girls back to where the girls first found him. When they arrived, they noticed two red kangaroos eating from the same tree. They must have seen the girls feeding Hippity Hoppity with its branches and tried them for themselves. This is the lesson from this story: do not feed wild animals.

So now when the children were naughty, instead of saying, “Your mother said you were naughty,” he would say, “My little bird said you were naughty.” That was when the telltale bird came into being. From then on, when the father was informed that his children had been naughty by their mother, he would say, “My little bird told me that . . .”
