But when he peers through one tunnelā€™s glassy walls and catches a glimpse of his fatherā€”alive and wellā€”Klem realizes the town outside the tunnels isnā€™t his Sea Scarp at all. Such things arenā€™t possible, of course. But if Klem is losing his mind, then how has the mysterious stranger whoā€™s been tailing him already mapped out every invisible hole in town? Now Klem will set out to find the one tunnel that leads to his father. • Land in California: The Story of Mission Lands, Ranchos, Squatters, Mining Claims, Railroad Grants, Land Scrip, Homesteads

    W. W. Robinson

Paperback (University of California Press, Aug. 20, 1979)
The story of California can be told in terms of its land. Better still, it can be told in terms of men and women claiming the land. These men and women form a procession that begins in prehistory and comes down to the present moment. Heading the procession are Indians, stemming out of a mysterious past, speaking a babel of tongues, and laying claims to certain hunting, fishing, and acorn-gathering areas-possessory claims doomed to fade quickly before conquering white races. Following the brown-skinned Indians are Spanish speaking soldiers, settlers, and missionaries who, in 1769, began coming up through Lower California and taking over the fertile coast valleys and the harbors of California. Their laws were the Laws of the Indies controlling Spanish colonization and governing ownership of land. Missions, presidios, pueblos, and ranchos were born in the period of these people.

  • Idle In The Marketplace At The Eleventh Hour: A New Look At The Church's Most Important Mandate

    David Robinson

eBook (City Limits International Publishing, Jan. 1, 2013)
Overcoming idleness in the marketplace requires apostolic-gifted leaders. For too long pastor and teacher, gifts have led the church. They are only two of the five Ascension gifts Jesus gave in Ephesians 4. Both are extremely important to the life of any local congregation but ineffective without the other three. Pastors and teachers are necessary to train and support believers already committed to following Christ but create very little activity in the marketplace. "Idle in the Marketplaceā€ explains the disconnect of the Church from the marketplace that causes a disconnect in effectiveness for building the Kingdom.
