They excite children... heck, they excite and melt all of our hearts when we see them. It's like they are born to love us right from day one. Their joy and happiness are evident from the minute they "arrive" in the world. But, as the author also found out, owning a puppy is exhausting work. Even for a small little Toy Poodle!! Although fun, this book is intended to bring out some of the responsibilities of owning a puppy together with the joys and rewards. This is a children's book about Puppies, learning the fun way to love & care for your first dogChildren are always attracted to dogs, and more specifically, to puppies. What's not to love and draw you to that cute little bundle of fur. It's like children can see that these animals are their perfect playmate. Puppies have something that shares their own energy level. The pictures in this book will show the playfulness and cuteness of a puppy while the text brings a certain amount of education about keeping and caring for a dog. Added to that, the author has also included some fun learning experiences for the children reading the book e.g. counting balls; recognising objects in photos; participating in what they see.Just like children, dogs learn extremely quickly and that their behaviours have consequences. Dogs are particularly responsive to praise so it's important to constantly praise your dog when it does something well (or what you want). This will go a long way to teaching your dog obedience and control. Some of the responsibilities shared in the book are things like walking or exercising the dog including the responsibility of cleaning up after it, washing, brushing, grooming, health care e.g. vaccinations, feeding, keeping the water bowl full, training and the need for obedience. Children are helped to understand these concepts with the illustrations and related text. For parents of children "begging" to have a puppy, this book will serve to help prepare them for dog ownership. The book should encourage meaningful conversation about the merits of owning a dog along with the duties that need to be considered with that ownership. It will also help evaluate the readiness for that big step of owning Your First Dog.Scroll up and download your copy today!

    Peter Dickinson

eBook (Open Road Media Teen & Tween, Jan. 27, 2015)
Three dystopian novels by an award-winning author that imagine a world where humankind has suddenly and violently rejected modern technology. Something has gone very wrong in England. In a tunnel beneath Wales one man opens a crack in a mysterious stone wall, and all over the island of Britain people react with horror to perfectly normal machines. Abandoning their cars on the roads and destroying their own factories, many flee the cities for the countryside, where they return to farming and an old-fashioned life. When families are split apart and grown-ups forget how they used to live, young people face unexpected challenges. Nicola Gore survives on her own for nineteen days before she’s taken in by a Sikh family that still remembers how to farm and forge steel by hand. Margaret and Jonathan brave the cold and risk terrible punishment in order to save a man’s life and lift the fog of fear and hate that’s smothering their village. And Geoffrey and his little sister, Sally, escape to France only to be sent back to England on a vital mission: to make their way north to Wales, alone, and find the thing under the stones that shattered civilization—the source of the Changes. Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), the reclusive and intensely private poet saw only a few of her poems (she wrote well over a thousand) published during her life. After discovering a trove of manuscripts left in a wooden box, Dickinson's sister Lavinia fortunately chose to disobey Emily's wishes for her work to be burned after death. With the help of Amherst professors, Lavinia brought her sister's gifted verse into print. It is here, in "The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson", that we witness her singular poetic depth and range of style. Collected are the first three series of her posthumous publishing career coming out respectively in 1890, 1891, and 1896. The myth that surrounds Dickinson's life is enhanced by the ethereal quality of her poetry. With the coming of New Criticism in the 1930's and 40's, Dickinson experienced unprecedented posthumous acclaim, solidifying her place in American letters. Dickinson's idiom is as varied as her meter, and her unconventional use of punctuation, metaphor, and image make
