  • The Stowaway On The Titanic

    Corinne Brown

Paperback (iUniverse, Inc., Nov. 3, 2004)
“Leroy,” an impatient Scotsman shouted, “if you don’t start climbing, you’ll die here.” I took a deep breath and reached for the ladder. I put one hand above the other and pulled myself up. The ladder swung toward the ship. My cap fell into the ocean. My knees smashed against the hull. The rope ladder wrapped around my body when it swung away from the ship. A glove slipped off, and my left hand lost its grip on the rung. When I tried to catch the glove, my left wrist scraped against the rope. The skin ripped. Blood spurted out. I screamed. “What are you yelling about?” the Scotsman hollered. “Climb, lad! Climb!” “I can’t,” I cried.

The orphaned boys believed that if Leroy could get to America, he would have a better chance to be adopted. They are surprised when they learn that Negroes are not allowed on the ship. Their friendship grows stronger in the face of adult hostilities and the disaster. Author's notes are added. They provide an overview of what life was like for Blacks in England and New York City prior to the Titanic tragedy. There is also information about the owners of the Titanic and little known facts about the ship and the tragedy.

  • Cody Le Petit Cheval Brun

    Corinne Brion

    Paperback (XLIBRIS, Sept. 17, 2013)
The story of Cody, Le Petit Cheval Brun, came about when I was teaching French to Fourth graders. I was in need of a reader for the class but was not able to find anything that appropriately matched my curriculum. It is then that I decided to tell the students about Cody, my little brown horse. The class not only truly enjoyed the story but they were impressed by the illustrations as well (the illustrations were done by Omar Montaño, my husband). I am excited to share this easy to read book. The book can be used by teachers in France as well as Teachers of French as a Second Language around the world. Its audience is for young native French speakers aged 1-5 and for French Language Learners aged 7-10. I am thrilled to contribute to the improvement of children's reading skills and enhancement of their global education. I wish all children had access to learning a second language. I am hoping that this book will contribute to that wish. Omar and I would love to publish more books about Cody and our dogs in French, Spanish and English. In the event that we gain profits from the book sales, I will use the profits to help fund the development of k-12 schools in sub-Saharan French speaking countries. Enjoy! Bonne lecture! Merci beaucoup! Corinne, Omar and Cody
