This hands-on activity lets students assume the role of crime scene investigators as they use science to examine the evidence and find the guilty person. After the crime scene is presented, students use observation, critical thinking, and basic chemistry to determine which of the suspects took the missing lunch. The unit includes instructions for setting up the crime scene and the seven analysis stations, as well as worksheets for recording the results of students' experiments and analyzing the outcomes. Combining science, observation, reading, thinking, and note taking, this simulation is easy to use and will challenge students to use higher order thinking skills. Allow your students to solve more mysteries with Crime Scene Detective, Detective Club, Mystery Disease, The Great Chocolate Caper, and The Loose Caboose. Grades 3-5
