A Day with Josiah was developed through my devotional time with the Lord. I heard the Lord say, “A day with Josiah!” I wrote the title down and asked, “What is that about?” The Lord instructed me to write about my experiences with my son and how I have had to rely on God’s direction on gearing him in the ways of the Lord. He wanted me to share how I instructed my son in his daily activities by using passages or stories in the Bible. God called them Biblical truth for guidance and directing children in His ways. God wanted me to teach children at their level of understanding, the word of God with aspiration of developing a life and pattern of prayer for children. God revealed to me that many Christians have lived the life of a believer but failed to practically instruct their children in understanding God’s love for them, even as a child. God does not want our children to have a scripted prayer of “Now I lay me down to sleep . . .” type of prayer, but a prayer that deals with their daily concerns. We as parents can teach them the word of God, which will guide them through prayer—as adults we use the word of God as a guide to steer us along the way. Therefore we are to make the word of God attainable to their child-like understanding while introducing Christ principles to them, teaching them how to utilize the power of prayer along with the word of God. I pray this book guides you in helping your child as it has helped my children. Today my children pray for what is specific to them, whether it be school, a friend, their parents, fear, bullies, or even their dreams while coming to know Christ as a friend that cares . . . as a believer that’s a relationship worth developing!
