    Christopher Mechling

eBook (Christopher Mechling, May 4, 2013)
Chris Mechling's new historical novel, Peter, introduces readers to the amazing true story behind the fairy tale of Peter Pan. The book tells the adventures of the real boy who came to London and became a well-known figure more than a hundred years before James Barrie penned his classic.Peter the Wild Boy lived in eighteenth century England, through the reigns of three kings (all named George), and achieved legendary status in his own lifetime. He was not only a popular figure, but also drew intense philosophical and scientific study, and was a subject of interest to literary figures such as Daniel Defoe and Jonathan Swift. Peter retained a youthful appearance throughout his life, and had a joyful, intuitive spirit that was both challenging and infectious. This imaginative dramatization of the life of Peter the Wild Boy captures the joy, innocence and fire of a bright, feral child living in the midst of the Age of Enlightenment. It is narrated by the girl who perhaps knew him best. The epic story of his life, spanning approximately seventy years, navigates a tumultuous and thoughtful period in English history, rich with characters.Peter is a magical, poignant tale full of humor, love, and courage in the face of life's difficulties. It will make you laugh, cry, dream and remember what it means to be young.
  • Hiding from Myself: A Memoir

    Bryan Christopher

Paperback (BC Books, Feb. 11, 2016)
"Unforgettable. This book will stay with me the rest of my life." Amazon reviewer Andreams You can’t turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper without seeing "gay" in a headline: from the simmering showdown over religious freedom and gay conversion therapy, to bullied gay teens tragically taking their own lives, to churches splitting right down the middle over gay rights. Few social issues ignite such passion from all sides. For those who see homosexuality as a choice and a sin, the notion of gay marriage is intolerable. For those who are gay, being excluded and shamed is simply intolerant. Bryan Christopher’s life has been spent straddling this great divide. As a boy raised under the blinding Friday Night Lights of the Texas Bible belt, from the playground to the pulpit one message was consistent: “queers” deserved to be smeared. And at the dawn of puberty, a 13-year-old Bryan knew he was in trouble: he was staring limply at the pages of his dad’s Playboy. That's when the hiding began. And in his neck of the Southern Baptist woods, it left him with one viable option: change. "Hiding from Myself: A Memoir" chronicles his zealous and unconventional crusade: from ringing doorbells for Jesus in the Castro of San Francisco to sorting through Hugh Hefner’s dirty laundry as a butler at the Playboy Mansion; from drowning in the beer-soaked trenches of his UCLA fraternity house to plunging headfirst into evangelical Christianity and "ex-gay" conversion therapy. With this raw and moving testimony, the author offers healing and a fresh perspective on perhaps the most divisive cultural issue of our time. Bryan's story is not a "gay" story or even an "ex-gay" story; his is a human story—a testament to the innate universal need for love. And the things that can sometimes get in the way...

  • Christopher Columbus: Controversial Explorer of the Americas

    Christopher C. Brink

Paperback (Cavendish Square Publishing, Aug. 15, 2018)
Few people in history have had as significant an impact on the shaping of multiple cultures as Christopher Columbus, the explorer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492 in search of a sea route from Europe to Asia. He has been widely admired throughout history for his persistence, courage, charisma, and impressive nautical and navigational skills, particularly considering his lack of formal education. However, he has been the target of significant criticism due to his perceived cruelty toward the native inhabitants of the islands he discovered, his ineptitude at governing the colony he founded, and his tendency toward dishonesty and manipulation of others when it suited his purposes. This book seeks to provide the reader with a balanced perspective of Columbus's personality, achievements, and far-reaching effects on cultures on both sides of the Atlantic.

  • 50th Anniversary Apollo 11: The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The first humans landing on the Moon. Debunking the conspiracy theories ... things of the Apollo 11 Moon landing

    Christopher G.I.

    language (, July 18, 2019)
The American effort to send astronauts to the moon had its origins in an appeal President Kennedy made to a special joint session of Congress on May 25, 1961: "I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth." At the time, the United States was still trailing the Soviet Union in space developments, and Cold War-era America welcomed Kennedy's bold proposal. In 1966, after five years of work by an international team of scientists and engineers, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) conducted the first unmanned Apollo mission, testing the structural integrity of the proposed launch vehicle and spacecraft combination. During the Apollo program of the 1960s and '70s, NASA sent nine missions to the Moon. Six of them landed astronauts safely on the surface, the only times humans have visited another world. July 20, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969 as part of NASA's Apollo 11 lunar mission. The following aspects are included in the book.-The Moon landing: Debunking the conspiracy theories.-History and mission profile of the Apollo 11. -Timeline of the 1969 Moon Landing-9 AWESOME REASONS of THE APOLLO 11 MOON LANDING
