  • Mystery Babylon - When Jerusalem Embraces The Antichrist: An Exposition of Revelation 18 and 19

    Chris White

Paperback (CWM Publishing, Sept. 12, 2013)
“And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” - Revelation 17:18 Which city is this that reigns over all the kings of the earth? Rome? New York? Mecca? There are over 90 Characteristics given in the book of Revelation about the city of Mystery Babylon, and none of these three cities meets all of the criteria. But there is one city that does…or should I say will. Too often people look for the city of Mystery Babylon in history, or in their present day, as opposed to what the scriptures say we will see in the future. The Bible tells us exactly which city will be the capital city of the Antichrist in the last days, it tells us the city that will promote the Antichrist's worship to the rest of the world, and the city in which the Antichrist will institute the greatest persecution of all time. That city is Jerusalem. The city of Mystery Babylon will be Jerusalem when it embraces the Antichrist as if he was their long awaited Messiah. The reason that she is referred to as a “harlot” is the same reason she was referred to as a harlot hundreds of times in scripture, because she is committing spiritual adultery. “How is the faithful city become an harlot! - Isaiah 1:21a Consider just a few similarities between Mystery Babylon and Jerusalem: 1.) Mystery Babylon is said to kill the prophets in Revelation 18:24. Yet the only city that has ever been recorded as killing the prophets is Jerusalem: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets…” – Matthew 23:37 2.) The Bible says that Mystery Babylon will be held accountable for ALL the righteous blood shed on the earth. Yet Jesus said the exact same thing about Jerusalem: “That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth…” - Mat 23:35a This is just scratching the surface. In the last days the Antichrist will seek to convince the Jews that their Messiah has finally come, he will seek to make them, and the rest of the world think that the kingdom age has begun. This is the only view of Mystery Babylon that can withstand a meticulous verse by verse examination. *Find out about the "seven hills" and why the bible refers to them as "kings" in almost every bible translation. *Find out why every item brought to Mystery Babylon are used for temple construction, daily sacrifice, and a vast, worldwide pilgrimage system. • The Last Lobster: Boom or Bust for Maine's Greatest Fishery?

    Christopher White

    Hardcover (St. Martin's Press, June 5, 2018)
From the author of Skipjack & The Melting World comes a mystery: the curious boom in America’s beloved lobster industry and its probable crashMaine lobstermen have happened upon a bonanza along their rugged, picturesque coast. For the past five years, the lobster population along the coast of Maine has boomed, resulting in a lobster harvest six times the size of the record catch from the 1980s―an event unheard of in fisheries. In a detective story, scientists and fishermen explore various theories for the glut. Leading contenders are a sudden lack of predators and a recent wedge of warming waters, which may disrupt the reproductive cycle, a consequence of climate change.Christopher White's The Last Lobster follows three lobster captains―Frank, Jason, and Julie (one the few female skippers in Maine)―as they haul and set thousands of traps. Unexpectedly, boom may turn to bust, as the captains must fight a warming ocean, volatile prices, and rough weather to keep their livelihood afloat. The three captains work longer hours, trying to make up in volume what they lack in price. As a result, there are 3 million lobster traps on the bottom of the Gulf of Maine, while Frank, Jason, and others call for a reduction of traps. This may in boost prices. The Maine lobstering towns are among the first American communities to confront global warming, and the survival of the Maine Coast depends upon their efforts. It may be an uphill battle to create a sustainable catch as high temperatures are already displacing lobsters northward toward Canadian waters―out of reach of American fishermen. The last lobster may be just ahead.
