  • Comes The Awakening

    C. K. Phillips

    eBook (C. K. Phillips, Jan. 17, 2015)
Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction . . . and more explosive!Author/educator Phil Kent is trying to finish his latest novel—in a secluded area in Nova Scotia. Kent and his wife love the setting: peaceful, idyllic, perfect . . . . . . Until it was not! A body found on the shore; a gold coin discovered nearby. Elements similar to his stories, Kent’s natural curiosity and thirst for adventure kick in and he calls his SEAL friend Bill Lander to help solve the mysteries. Kent and Lander, along with Kent’s wife Cyndi, start making connections that spread from ancient Knights Templar and the Oak Island treasure to intended targets all over the world. Follow this trio as they tackle a devious plan that threatens western civilization as we know it. Can they thwart the terrorists? Can they crack the code? Can they save millionsOr will it be another catastrophe that Kent can write about?Lee Gimenez, the award-winning author of 13 books, including several bestsellers, reviewed Comes the Awakening "An excellent novel. This thriller is a great read. Good plotting, pacing, and characters, with plenty of mystery elements throughout. I recommend this novel to people who enjoy fast-paced thrillers. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author." Yvonne says: "The relationship between Phil and Bill is really strong and you can sense that they trusted each other with their lives. Whilst I felt I knew everything about Phil, Bill was another matter and I was still finding things about him the further I got into the story. One of my favourite characters was Cyndi, Phil’s wife as whizz on a computer and an essential part of the team as her research skills were the best. She understood the importance of the mystery and let Phil go off and investigate. While there may be some comparisons to Dan Brown’s novels, this story was so much better, . . . "

  • The Survival Initiative

    C. K. Phillips

    eBook
Three men seeking to destroy western civilization...and a few good people determined to stop them. Terrorist attacks. A nation on high alert. A mandatory mission. It shouldn't take an explosion—or death—to deliver a message. All that novelist Phil Kent wanted was to watch a football game with his lifelong friend Bill Lander while their wives were shopping at the Miami Mall...and they even made it through the first half. But then the terrorist attack on the mall left Lisa Lander in a coma—and that was only the beginning. Kent and Lander quickly find themselves facing a call to action. On high alert, the CIA recruits retired SEAL Lander to gear up and lead an “off-the-books” operation to return fire against the terrorist acts striking the U.S, Canada, and Europe by a new cell only known as IM4WD, led by Ahmad Bin Ladr. As Lander watches his wife struggle to live, he agrees—on the sole condition that Kent is incorporated into this mission. Ahead of them is a plot masterminded to bring the United States and their NATO allies to their knees. As they slowly peel back the layers of this shocking plan, they are horrified at the twists they uncover in this high-stakes mission. As Destruction Day quickly approaches, Lander and his team are the only people that stand in the way between their culture’s survival—and mass destruction. The third book in the Kent/Lander series, The Survival Initiative will throw you into the fight for everything you hold dear. Join Phil and Cyndi Kent, former SEAL Bill Lander, and their friends and allies, and learn exactly what friendship, love, and determination can do against terrorism! Can they shut down the plot before the fatal blow?
  • The Blue Awakening

    C.B. Phillips

language (Charlotte Blue Publishing, March 14, 2018)
An exciting new fairy tale in the style of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. The Blue Awakening is the first in a series of five books chronicling the magical exploits of Princess Blue, Princess Victoriana, and Lady Charlotte along with many other endearing characters as they experience one adventure after another. The princesses are quickly thrust into the center of a dangerous battle between the forces of good and evil. The three beautiful young heroines are of questionable royalty, although together they are an overwhelming force of righteousness. The princesses’ youth and innocence, along with Lady Charlotte’s inner fire, leave them susceptible to the malevolent forces of a very beautiful, yet powerfully wicked and cunning baroness. As the princesses face the forces of evil they are secretly protected by a mythical sisterhood of courageous and talented women and possibly even a silver angel. The Blue Series is filled with kings and queens, knights and debutantes, brigands and bandits, young men and women coming of age along with a unique host of very special animals and creatures. Originally written as a fairy tale to be read aloud to children at bedtime, the stories evolved into a series of books even adults will enjoy. Reading to a group or reading alone, The Blue Awakening along with the rest of the Blue Series are great fun for those of all ages. Author’s notation: Periodically the realities of being in a combat zone unexpectedly shattered my imaginary world and thrust me back into the ever present dangers of Iraq. Notations of rocket attacks and other such interruptions are inserted exactly where they occurred while writing this story.C.B. PhillipsPhoenix BaseBaghdad, Iraq
  • The Blue Knights: Blue Book III

    C.B. Phillips

    (Independently published, March 30, 2020)
The Blue Knights is the third in a series of books chronicling the magical exploits of Princess Blue, Princess Victoriana, and Lady Charlotte along with many other endearing characters. It is a fairy tale of the battle between innocent virtue and unholy wickedness in the spirit of the Brothers Grimm, the Oz stories by L. Frank Baum, and Mary Poppins, by P. L. Travers. Two young princesses and their lovely governess, banished from the Kingdom of the North for reasons beyond their understanding, find themselves in reversed roles far from home at Schloss Lichtenstein. The princesses are now relegated to the status of mere morning matrons at the bottom of the royal staff hierarchy. In contrast, Lady Charlotte is no longer a nanny, but instead the Senior Matron and virtual First Lady of the Schloss. Discovering hard work, long hours, and unseen dangers, the banished princesses, find special friendship and camaraderie with the other matrons, stablehands, pages, and squires. Lady Charlotte is no longer the fun-loving big sister to the princesses, but instead, she is an unrelenting taskmaster. Unbeknownst to these three special maidens, they are surrounded by unseen protectors known as the Blue Knights. Simultaneously, a secret sisterhood of mythical female warriors, work to protect the three maidens and foil the schemes of the wicked Aleksandrina, Queen of the Damodells. Known as the Sisters of the Ettol Rahc, they use their almost magical powers to thwart the evil plot against not only the Blue Sapphire, but all that is virtuous. Still, the first misstep by one of the Blue Sapphire occurs as the beautiful Lady Charlotte succumbs to her feral yearnings. She takes on the secret role as the Phantom Rider, a dark Spector of the night who brandishes her own particular justice on those malevolent souls who unwittingly cross her path. Originally written as a fairy tale to be read aloud at bedtime, the stories evolved into an exciting adventure about friendship, love, and the coming of age.Author's note on the inspiration for the stories,The story is a fairy tale adaptation of the real-world introduction of women into the newly formed Iraqi Police Service in 2003-2004. These unsung heroes believed in the cause of freedom and making their homeland a safer place. Unfortunately, the new female police officers ran into not only dangers from radical extremists and terrorists, but much more significantly, from their male counterparts. MISOGYNY. To personally psychologically cope with the terrible horrors inflicted on these valiant and courageous women, I created the Sisters of the Ettol Rahc. These fairy tale members of a legendary secret sisterhood of Women Warriors. They are trained in a myriad of skills, with some involving fighting, while others are more psychological. The Sisters of the Ettol Rahc are defenders of righteousness protectors of the innocent. Yet, in reality, they are the personification of the women of the Iraqi Police Service. Another group of courageous women, who I was honored to meet while serving in Iraq, are those of the female-led Iranian Resistance, known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq. About the author: C.B.Phillips was a career Soldier in the United States Army for 31 years and the Director of Security for the Army Staff in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Deploying multiple times to Iraq, C.B.Phillips wrote the Blue Stories as a psychological escape from the realities of war. Periodically, combat disrupted the fantasy world and notations of rocket attacks, and other such dangers are annotated precisely where they occurred while writing.

  • Newlands Road to Success: Brief History of the Way & the Rise of Newlands Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, mainlyt 1947 - 1963

    Christopher Phillips

    language (myself, Jan. 16, 2017)
After WW2, the world was different from what it is now. Chris’s true story takes us back.Remember? Many things were rationed. Prices were much cheaper. Children played in the streets and in each other’s gardens and homes and got up to all sorts of mischief.Mobile phones? You picked up the phone and WAITED for the operator to say “NUMBER PLEASE”. The dustman called once a week, lifted the metal bin on his shoulders, emptied it into the dustcart, and returned the bin to your garden. The milkman called every morning to leave your milk, whatever the weather, and if you left it out, the robins would peck a hole in the top. The council repaired pavements regularly. When it snowed, council workers would shovel salt on the snow by hand as they walked down the footpath. Few people had TV, but they listened keenly to the radio: Home Service or Light Programme. Real candles on little stands on the branches of the Christmas tree. Blackberries were picked in September, and turned into jam or jelly. Many people grew much of their own fruit and veg. on their allotments.Who heard of Health and Safety rules in those days? Children played conkers, dug deep holes, played football in the road, climbed trees, and used cap pistols. We had hula hoops, skipping, “he” and other chasing games.. Scraped knees and bruises were common. Boys wore short trousers, girls dresses or skirts; raincoats reached almost to your ankles. Mothers did most of the housework and cooking, and fathers went to work 5 or 6 days a week. Almost no shops opened on Sunday. We made toast on a fork over the wood, coal or coke fires, sucking in cold draughts from under the doors. Families would eat together, listen to the latest radio play together, play games like cards, chess or Monopoly, ludo, snakes & ladders Scrabble and Careers. What more could one want? Read this book and see what WE really got up to. I hope this will encourage children to start their own stamp clubs (Or other clubs)
