The LingBao branch of Daoism in 5th century China left behind a rich set of imagery and ideation, meaning encrypted in the straight chops beside the hidden bend, upright and victorious discipline leading one to be a direct link in a mountain chain, words arranged into a talisman that shines direct like the sun, Now that we are fifteen years deep in to the golden age of Eastern thought being translated into the English language, one of the most important LingBao scriptures, the "Jing Wu Liang Du Ren", ç¶çĄéćșŠäșș, or "Scripture of Boundless Salvation", is beginning to appear, and the vision of the universe it provides is a golden light to return modern man to the Garden of Eden which we really never left, just got lost in. Published on "dztranslation.org", this scripture gradually describes a vision worth communicating; It's a change in perspective, away from the ânetherworldâ of the mind of man, with its immediate desires, its confusion, the materialist culture, so separate as it is from the universe, from the âDaoâ, and suggesting a â simple, single moveâ, from looking âdownâ, into that netherworld, where all the science and reason are, to looking âupâ, into the sky, past the clouds, through the heavens, toward the origins, the beginning of time, toward our ancestors, and encouraging us to take their perspective, and then on looking back into the daily existence of our world, to carry them forward within us as they might have hoped and expected; Not taught to cultivate life, we hurtle toward death, the âattractorsâ hurled at us from every direction in the jade hailstorm of stress that is the modern world, the cloud of locusts that swarms the human condition always pushing the spring of numinosity down the drain into the netherworld, the âattractorâ of stability that is the isolation and desolation of addiction, but also the netherworld of television watching, shopping, gamblingâŠthe âbai lingâ, the âhundred energiesâ, the modern storm of locusts; but the beautiful sounds of teaching that rear and nourish into the perfection of pure life are the attractors on the other end of the spectrum, hidden in our modern world, but available to the sleuth, the seeker of truth; they teach us to add numinous energy to the system in the form of stillness, to simmer in regulation and restraint, with the doing of the self â âwei shenâ; çșèș«, with âoneâs own power to accomplish saving, oneâs own power to accomplish calm quiescence, âzi chengâ; èȘæ; when itâs âso hard to break the habitâ, itâs the hard work of âwei shenâ, âzi chengâ, the âgoerâ of âgoing through hellâ who comes out the other end; âwu weiâ, çĄçČ the âdoing of nothingâ, the highest vehicle, is very different from not doing anything, which doesnât resist the locust swarm and just runs for cover inside the âbai lingâ, the hundred energies, the easy shelters of dopamine reward just shadows, unreal in the hailstorm; the doing of nothing is the real shelter of divinity; rather than not doing anything, itâs the opposite, a powerful exertion of purificatory force, âwu weiâ / non-action is the doing of spiritual exercise, of spiritual practice, the doing of mental, physical, and spiritual fasting; itâs slow, prolonged, and mindful breathing - âpranayamaâ - and the doing of yoga - a union with the universe - itâs standing in the balanced steelyard where the gold is refined, under heat and pressure, where the YANG is brought out and then put to bed on fixed schedule; the language of heaven a rhythm, the march of non-action, seemingly simple, is as difficult as stillness in a hailstorm or a cloud of locusts, it's the adding of numinous energy into the system, rather than letting the system attract to its lowest energy state, and in the mysterious receptacle of stillness the magic of life accumulates, in âshouâ, ć, receive-accept-endure, the light of eternity shining through the opaque rustling of the existential;
