Not illustrated. 1913 edition. Excerpt: ... SAMUEL COLTER: AND HIS WONDERFUL RACE FOR LIFE WHEN Lewis and Clark were on their way to the Pacific coast they had with them two trappers, one of whom was to meet with extraordinary adventures. These were Samuel Colter and Lemuel Potts -- both sturdy sons of the West -- who obtained permission from the leaders of tfie expedition to remain near the headwaters of the Missouri River, in order to hunt and to trap.
