  • Mysteries of Genesis

    Charles Fillmore

Paperback (Martino Fine Books, June 9, 2014)
2014 Reprint of 1936 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Charles Sherlock Fillmore (1854 -1948) founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to spiritualist interpretations of biblical Scripture. In this work he attempts a metaphysical textbook on Genesis, the world's best known but perhaps, according to Fillmore, its least understood allegory. It deals with the highlights of Genesis, omitting genealogies and such matters as would interest those trying to establish an historical interpretation. The study is designed to show the origin of man as a perfect image or idea in Divine Mind; how this I AM image, called Jehovah God, forms the man idea into the man manifest, and how this man manifest must eventually become conscious both of his divine origin and his divine potentiality to become the God-man idea manifest, or the Christ.

  • The Twelve Powers

    Charles Fillmore

    Paperback (Unity, Jan. 1, 2006)
The Twelve Powers combines two popular Unity books: The Twelve Powers of Man by Charles Fillmore and a companion piece, Christ Enthroned in Man by Cora Dedrick Fillmore. When Charles Fillmore studied the life, teachings, death, and Resurrection of Jesus, he discovered twelve power that, when developed, can lead to a life of unspeakable joy and glory. Fillmore wrote The Twelve Powers of Man to explain metaphysically these twelve human powers or faculties and the process of regeneration as taught by Jesus Christ. The book includes Scripture references, an index, and questions for each chapter that help the reader learn how to develop those twelve powers and experience physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual renewal and regeneration. This is one of Fillmore's most profound books and challenges the serious metaphysical student as well as those seeking in-depth understanding of mind, body, and spirit.
  • Teach Us To Pray

    Charles Fillmore

    eBook (, Nov. 8, 2010)
Teach Us To Pray clearly shows that God is available to all who want to establish a contact with Him. Prayer is not about begging God but claiming all that rightfully belongs to us in His Truth and transforming our life and is an exciting adventure.Charles Sherlock Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948), born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to metaphysical interpretations of Biblical scripture. After the births of their first two sons, Lowell Page and Waldo Rickert Fillmore, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Two years later, in 1886, Charles and Myrtle attended New Thought classes held by Dr. E. B. Weeks. Myrtle subsequently recovered from chronic tuberculosis and attributed her recovery to her use of prayer and other methods learned in Weeks's classes. Subsequently Charles began to heal from his childhood accident, a development which he too attributed to following this philosophy. Charles Fillmore became a devoted student of philosophy and religion.[5]In 1889, Charles left his business to focus entirely on a prayer group that would later be called 'Silent Unity'. It was named this because of a legal conflict with Mary Baker Eddy over the use of the title Christian Science. That same year he began publication of a new periodical, 'Modern Thought', notable among other things as the first publication to accept for publication the writings of the then 27-year-old New Thought pioneer William Walker Atkinson. In 1891, Fillmore's 'Unity' magazine was first published. Dr. H. Emilie Cady published 'Lessons in Truth' in the new magazine. This material later was compiled and published in a book by the same name, which served as a seminal work of the Unity Church. Although Charles had no intention of making Unity into a denomination, his students wanted a more organized group. He and his wife were among the first ordained Unity ministers in 1906. Charles and Myrtle Fillmore operated the Unity organization from a campus near downtown Kansas City
  • Mysteries of Genesis

    Charles Fillmore

ForewordTHE BOOK OF GENESIS is the key to the Bible. In the New Testament it is quotedtwenty-seven times literally and thirty-eight times substantially. It tells in a very fewwords how God first imaged man and the universe and then turned the developmentover to Jehovah, who has been in a process of manifestation for ages and aeons. The "Five Books of Moses," of which Genesis is the first, have always been creditedto Moses, but that he was the author seems doubtful in the face of the many stories ofcreation found in the legends and hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt, Chaldea, and othernations that are almost identical with those of Genesis. It would thus seem that Mosesedited the legends of the ages and compiled them into an allegorical history of creation. As printed in English translations there is little to reconcile Genesis with creation asrevealed by modern geology. It is said that Hugh Miller, the brilliant Scottish geologist, went insane in his efforts to reconcile Genesis with the geological record. However moreaccurate translations of the Hebrew show that the literal reading of the English is oftennot warranted by the original text. For example, the English Bible reads, "In thebeginning God created the heavens and the earth." Fentons translation renders it thus:"By periods God created that which produced the Suns; then that which produced theEarth." When we realize that God is mind (Spirit-mind), we see that this latter renditionis correct. God creates the ideas that form the things. Here we have the key thatunlocks not only the mysteries of Genesis but the whole Bible. God's creations arealways spiritual. This includes the spiritual man, called Jehovah, through whom allthings, including personal man, Adam, are brought into manifestation.

  • The Revealing Word: A Dictionary of Metaphysical Terms

    Charles Fillmore

language (Unity Books, Jan. 1, 1959)
The Revealing word is a volume in the Charles Fillmore Reference Library that will help you bring the Bible to life. This reference work is a metaphysical dictionary of common names found in the bible, as well as words and phrases that are frequently used in Unity and New Thought teachings. The Revealing Word will help you find inner meaning for words in a way that will bring new depth of understanding and awareness to your daily life. This book complements Charles Fillmore's much larger work, Metaphysical Bible Dictionary, which presents the meanings of scriptural proper names as well as places found in the Bible. These two unique books are the foundation of Charles Fillmore's inspired thinking and teachings. The Unity movement was founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. Unity successfully incorporates traditional Christian religion with metaphysical principles, for example, the use of the law of cause and effect and affirmation to bring about change in our lives to bring us closer to God.
  • Christian Healing

    Charles Fillmore

(CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Dec. 24, 2017)
1."There is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty giveth them understanding." (Job 32:8) The science that is here set forth is founded upon Spirit. It does not always conform to intellectual standards, but it is, nevertheless, scientific. The facts of Spirit are of a spiritual character and, when understood in their right relation, they are orderly. Orderliness is law, and is the test of true science. 2.The lawful truths of Spirit are more scientific than the constantly shifting opinions based on intellectual standards. The only real science is the science of Spirit. It never changes. It is universally accepted by all who are in Spirit, but one must be "in the Spirit" before one can understand this science of Spirit. The mind of Spirit must become active in those who would grasp the orderly science of Being that these lessons proclaim. 3.It is not absolutely necessary that the spiritual part of man's nature be active at the beginning of his study of this science. The primal object of the lessons is to quicken the spiritual realm of consciousness and to bring about the "breath of the Almighty" that gives understanding.

Here is Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore's first book, originally published in 1909, in which we find his early ideas on the Twelve Powers, the seminal concept of his whole metaphysics. We also see how he originally formulated Unity to be a movement of universal spiritual science based on principles that could be proved and demonstrated. Here also is the sense of Unity as a great mystical tradition that draws from all religions and all faiths. While Charles used the word Christian in his title because to him the book was based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, he did not want to be limited by any sense of being denominational. Charles saw Unity as transdenominational, as helping people find the Truth in every tradition.Charles Fillmore clearly saw Unity as a spiritual science that needed to be practiced, not merely believed in or obeyed. The statements that follow each chapter of this book are not meant merely to be read, but applied to daily living. He intended this book to be a manual of mental disciplines that anyone could use to foster spiritual healing through the use of denials and affirmations.Christian Healing is a foundational work for Unity and New Thought teachings.

These are not simply lectures; they are, rather, lessons. They are not merely to beread; they are to be studied and applied as one studies and applies mathematical rules. When the text suggests that the reader "hold a thought," or affirm or deny a certainproposition, the student should stop reading, and both audibly and mentally do asbidden. This will set up new thought currents in mind and body, and will make way forthe spiritual illumination that will follow in all who are faithful to these instructions. The statements following each lesson should be used for mental discipline. Writethese statements down and apply them daily while studying the lesson to which theycorrespond. Anyone can do spiritual healing who will use the simple rules of denial andaffirmation here set forth. If you wish to heal another, hold him in mind and mentallyrepeat the denials and affirmations; this will raise your consciousness to spiritual reality, where all healing power originates.
