Compared with her, the other charac ters are mere puppets. She evolves herself to the reader, by her life, her thought, her feeling. She is worked out in the real style. She is a creation; she is so vital, so real, so detestable. She dominates the book, and is such a woman as I have never seen in literature, and hope I never shall see in life.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
