Could anything worse happen on a Friday afternoon right before the Chicago Festival of Lights parade? As she nears her dreaded destination, a glance outside reveals a runaway horse and carriage, one wheel trapped in a school bike rack. She races to help, but is it the horse or a mysterious black top hat that entices her to sit in the carriage? There is no turning back, for she is catapulted straight into a misadventure with Rico, an immigrant boy who rides horses in the nearby historic theater. Together they plan to save the horse, but sharing both ideas and the reins may be difficult when the runaway and the rescue keep shifting in this madcap tale of kids changing hearts, minds, and perhaps even a few grown-up rules along the way.

  • Death; A Beginning

    Caroline Hill

    language (, April 28, 2010)
This is a different kind of VAMPIRE novel. Or supernatural novel if you need a label. It is not your average teenage vampire romance novel, but there is love in it. It is not a gore fest, but it has some death and killing and the usual vampire things so it is not exactly G rated.. I suppose it is mostly PG. The second book has some Adult content and some gore, but we do not need to go there for this book. This book is about a seven plus year old girl named Jamie who's father dies. She and her mother move to get away from relatives. The new house boarders a huge old Plantation. Where she finds all sorts of things, including show horses. She also finds death, but because of the death she finds a friend. The horses are part of the story and they have a place in her life but "he" has the biggest place in her life. As they travel through her life they have adventures and they do many things. You learn about Aaron's past. (Aaron is the vampire) You learn that he is so much more than that. The story leads you on adventures that will make you laugh, cry, and squeal with excitement. Everyone who I have had read this book reads it in just one or two days and they are back asking for more. Once you start hang on cause it is a fast paced ride. It appeals to so many different types of people. It does not matter who reads it, so far they are all bugging me to finish the second one. So please If you like this book recommend it to a friend. I need help getting started here. Aaron needs your help. Thanks..
