  • On Wings of Evil

    Cora Taylor

Hardcover (Fitzhenry and Whiteside, June 7, 2005)
In this sequel to On Wings of a Dragon, a chill wind is blowing through the skies of the flying ones, and once again the dragon Api'Naga and his companion Kour'el are on a mission: to find the source of the evil that is disturbing their land. Their search will take them back to the island home of Maighdlin - once a simple village girl, now a queen - and to places where they experienced their greatest suffering. And they are not the only ones with unfinished business. Princess Paloma, one of the dead queen Mariah's banished daughters, has been seen in the Dargon Courtyard, and when Maighdlin and her loyal guardsmen, Brede and Talon, follow her trail, it takes them through the tunnel to the Tower, that brooding edifice that has held so many secret prisoners. There, they are launched into fresh horrors. Queen Mariah - or something like her - has returned; and behind her hovers a force greater and more evil than any of them - dragon or human - has ever seen.

  • Bones in the Basket: Native Stories of the Origin of People

    C. J. Taylor

Paperback (Tundra Books, April 1, 1998)
How did people come to inhabit the Earth? Were bones, collected in a basket, changed into people and scattered East, West, North, South? Perhaps animals formed the Earth from moss floating on a raft after a great flood. Or did the first woman fall through a hole in the sky to make her home on the back of a turtle? Did souls emerge from a dark underworld by climbing a grapevine? A wonderful collection of stories taken from Chuckchee, Cree, Mandan, Modoc, Mohawk, Osage, and Zuñi legends.

  • Ghost Voyages IV: Champlain and Cartier

    Cora Taylor

Paperback (Coteau Books, April 9, 2008)
Jeremy is back home after a holiday in Toronto with his dad and his dad's new wife, and he's also back on his incredible travels into the past. All he has to do is pick up his grandfather's old magnifying glass, look at a stamp with a ship on it-and instantly he's on board! And he's got lots of reasons for wanting to escape. Since he went on his holiday, Jeremy's mom has a new boyfriend, Ike. It's her first boyfriend since she divorced Jeremy's father. Jeremy doesn't like Ike very much, but he could turn out to be Jeremy's new dad. In search of escape, Jeremy plunges into new shipboard adventures. He nearly drowns on a racing yacht in the famous Australian Sydney to Hobart race in 1998, during which five boats sink and six people die. Of the 115 boats that start the race, only 44 make it to Hobart. He almost gets caught on board Samuel de Champlain's ship, during its 1606 trip up the St. Lawrence River. And he witnesses Jacques Cartier's turbulent encounters in 1535 with Canada's original First Nations inhabitants. Jeremy also runs into his own grandfather (as a young boy) and his own grandson, both travellers from their own times, and they help each other out of dangerous situations.

  • How We Saw the World

    C.J. Taylor

Hardcover (Tundra Books, Aug. 12, 1993)
All peoples have their own stories of how the Earth was created, what separated the land from the seas, and how the many animals, fish, and other creatures came to have their particular characteristics. The native tribes of North America are no different: they too have stories about the “way things began.” A fascinating collection of tales that explain the origins of tornadoes, forest fires, butterflies, horses, Niagara Falls, why dogs are our best friends, and even a very funny story of why owls and rabbits look the way they do.
