  • Abraham Lincoln: The Prairie Years, 1809-1861

    Carl Sandburg

Paperback (Dell Publishing, June 15, 1976)
1926. Vol. 1 of a 2 vol. set. The author planned composing this book for nearly thirty years. He desired to make a particular portrait of Lincoln, that being a sketch of the country lawyer and prairie politician who was intimate with the settlers of the Knox County neighborhood where the author grew up. Sandburg heard the conversations of men and women who had eaten with Lincoln, given him a bed overnight, heard his jokes and lingo, remembered his silences and his mobile face. Illustrated. Volume 2 ISBN 076614609X.

  • Abraham Lincoln: The Prairie Years and the War Years: One Volume Edition

    Carle Sandburg

Hardcover (Harcourt, Brace & World, Inc, March 15, 1954)
This 762-page hardcover was published in 1954 by Harcourt. This is a one-volume edition. There is no dustcover, however, the deep red hardcover is very nice. There is minimal shelving wear, with very slight bumping along edges, with a slight fading on the spine. The gold lettering on the face and spine is very good. The pages appear clean and unmarked, with a previous owner's name plate on inside cover. The binding is solid and flexible. Overall, a very nice conditioned volume.
