  • Aunt Kitty's Tales

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Nov. 26, 2015)
Excerpt from Aunt Kitty's TalesIt has been several years since Aunt Kitty last presented herself to her young friends, yet she hopes that she has not been forgotten by them, and that her reappearance will give them pleasure. She introduces to them in the present volume no new acquaintance, but she offers to them, in one group, all who formerly interested them. Blind Alice and her young benefactress - Jessie Graham and her ardent, generous, but inconsiderate friend, Florence Arnott - Grace and Clara - and Ellen Leslie, will here be found together. They have been carefully prepared for this second presentation to the public by Aunt Kitty's own hand. It is hoped that her efforts for their improvement have not been wholly unsuccessful, and that they will be found not altogether unworthy teachers of those lessons of benevolence and truth, generosity, justice and self-government, which she designed to convey through them.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Conquest and Self-Conquest, or Which Makes the Hero?

    Maria J. McIntosh

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Jan. 24, 2018)
Excerpt from Conquest and Self-Conquest, or Which Makes the Hero?It was September, 1811. The good ship had experienced some very severe weather, and, having entered the harbour of New Orleans, lay safely moored near the shore. The weather was sultry, and it was not till evening that any who had not a home or friends within the city felt disposed to leave the ship. But the cool night-breeze brought new energy on its wings, and all not immediately on duty began to think how they might most pleasantly spend an even ing on shore. In such a consultation the opinion of no other was so much regarded as that of George Fulton, the oldest midshipman onboard, for he had been in New Orleans, and knew all its varied places of amusement.Poh, poh said young Fulton to those who had proposed a stroll through the city or a visit to its theatres; I will show you the place to enjoy yourselves, and make money besides.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Evenings at Donaldson Manor; Or, The Christmas Guest

    Maria J. McIntosh

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, April 6, 2016)
About the Book Biblical studies are a set of diverse disciplines that are concerned with a study of the Bible, i.e. the Tanach and the New Testament. There were four gospels comprising the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and these are the main sources of information about the life of Jesus. Bible studies itself draws on many disciplines ranging from archaeology, ancient history, cultural backgrounds, textual criticism, literary criticism, historical backgrounds, philology, and social science. As to philology for example, most of the Hebrew Bible, the Tanakh, which formed the basis of the Christian Old Testament, was written in Biblical Hebrew, with a few chapters rendered in Biblical Aramaic. On the other hand, the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!
