    Charles F. Lummis

Paperback (Trieste Publishing, Oct. 2, 2017)
Trieste Publishing has a massive catalogue of classic book titles. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. Books from that period are often spoiled by imperfections that did not exist in the original. Imperfections could be in the form of blurred text, photographs, or missing pages. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Readers interested in bulk purchases are invited to contact us directly to enquire about our tailored bulk rates.

  • The King of the Broncos: And Other Stories of New Mexico

    Charles F. Lummis

Hardcover (Forgotten Books, Jan. 18, 2018)
Excerpt from The King of the Broncos: And Other Stories of New MexicoSo! There was, then, a horse in the world that could run faster than J overo 1 Impossible! And yet, there you were! The lips of J overo's rider suddenly puckered in a low whistle, and the vexed ridges in his brow unbent to a frown of wonder. Why, next thing you knew, you would be finding some one braver than Don Ireneo, or a better wrestler than Cuate, or one wiser than the Padre Brun himself, Who could run clear through a book and never once stub his toe! These were revolutionary thoughts; and J overo's gait was not conducive to thought of any sort. His small ears were set flat back to his head, his neck was strained forward, his nostrils flared like bells; and as he thundered on it was evident enough that he was as much put out as his master by yonder impudent runaway. Though Juan no longer sat as the rider sits whose heart is in the chase, J overo lunged ahead fiercely as ever. He would run down yon upstart on his own hook, or die trying.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • A Tramp Across the Continent

    Charles F. Lummis

Hardcover (Forgotten Books, April 18, 2018)
Excerpt from A Tramp Across the ContinentI would have this unpretentious book taken only for what it is the wayside notes of a happy vagabondizing. It was written in hurried moments by the coal-oil lamps of country hotels, the tallow dips of section-house or ranch, the smoky pine knots of the cowboy's or the hunter's cabin, the crackling fogon of a Mexican adobe, or the snapping greasewood of my lonely campfire upon the plains; and from that vagrant body and Spirit I have not tried to over-civilize it. A prim chronicle of such a trip would be no chronicle at all. Nor have I desired to make it either an atlas or an encyclo paedia of the country. Economic and geographic essays do not belong within its s00pe. It is merely a truthful record of some of the experiences and impressions of a walk across the continent - the diary of a man who got outside the fences of civil ization and was glad of it. It is the simple story of joy on legs.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
