Palamino and Carmella, the young cats, especially, wonder what adventures might wait for them in the woods. Until then, Dad, or King Tam, notes winter is coming after seeing his old friend, Barney the Barn Owl perched on a limb. King Tam settles in to tell his wife Winkie and the kids Carmella and Palamino that winter would soon be upon them. No chance of going out to play in the woods until it has passed. So images show unique pictures of the entire cat family playing, running, sending letters at the computer and being close to each other as each waits in their own way for the cold weather to pass.Ultimately, it finally does, setting the young reader up for Book Two, Palamino Gets Lost!

  • Belhaven Tales Crow's Nest Una and King David

    Mrs. Burton Harrison

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Dec. 2, 2017)
Excerpt from Belhaven Tales Crow's Nest Una and King DavidIn these echoing rooms had, from time to time, gathered all the celebrities of the day, coming to visit the haunts of Washington and to taste Virginian courtesy. And here, at a much later date, upon the occasion of his fourth visit to America, in 1824, was domiciled the gallant Lafayette. The tale of a famous reception tendered to that fortunate Frenchman is still told in the town. Escorted by citizens and mili tiamen, freemasons and Revolutionary survivors, the Nation's Guest passed along streets strewn with roses by the children of the place, beneath a trium phal arch the like of which in grandeur had never been seen. At the moment when the hero paused beneath the arch, a real eagle (politely furnished for the occasion by the proprietor of a museum) was seen to flap its wings, and heard to utter a scream of victory. This climax, it was afterward ascertained, was secured by a boy who, at the critical moment.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • The Country Cat Family Book Two: Palamino Gets Lost!

    Ben Harrison

language (King Tam Productions, March 18, 2015)
This book has 49 exciting action pictures of Carmella and Palamino in the woods--a great resource for talking about this second story as you read with your child or class. But first, this is how the book fits in with the last and the story:In the previous picture book, The Country Cat Family and the Cold Weather!, we met the members of the family and how they spent their time in anticipation of the warmer season when Palamino and Carmella could go outside and explore the woods. In this book, they do that with almost CATastrophic consequences! In the process oflearning how to climb trees, chasing bugs and each other, running, jumping over limbs and a host of other pictured activities, Palamino manages to get lost in the woods, inspite of his parents watching over both Carmella and him. If only he had paid attention to Dad! Carmella steps up to save the day. Bravely, she volunteers to go into the woods and find her brother. Though she is scared at times, she discovers things about herself that she thought she could never do, like jumping over trees and navigating through the woods. When she finds Palamino, she leads him back home, but not before he tells her he is going to reveal a BIG SECRET later that evening. That is the surprise climax of the story in book three.
