  • The Girl Who Fell Into the Sky: A Retelling of the Grimms' King Thrushbeard

    Buffy Naillon

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Dec. 4, 2014)
Reviews! From the judge's commentary for the 23rd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards: Author has a mastery of surprising us in the book. Introducing the non-woman character at the show seemed like just an observation of a quirky character and a fascinating trend of the era. We had no idea how important that would eventually become. Great plant by the author. It was a story-making twist later on...Settings are rich in detail, dialogue is realistic and engaging, confrontations are tense and paced well (it’s a common mistake to rush through them, but author keeps us in the thick of them. Wisely done.) It’s a big book, so the risk of a lull in the middle is a particular possibility … but in this book, there is no lull. It stays exciting and emotional all the way through. Good work. Absolutely one of the best books I have read. Jim H, 5 star Review Beautifully written! You won't want to put it down. Kelly, 5 star review Absolute awesome read, I couldn't put it down. Tellisa Taylor, 5 star review Finished this A-MAZ-ING book yesterday and am now finding that I'm admittedly peeved that I can't jump into book #2!!! Tequisha, 5 star review When reality star Clare King wakes up on her wedding day, she knows only two things…One: that she's about to marry a complete stranger, a beggar off the street…and Two: that her ruthless father set the marriage up. After her father's plans for her wedding day go awry, she is forced to go on the run with her new husband, an enigmatic and handsome man she knows only as John. But what could have been the most terrifying time of Clare's life turns into something else entirely when this rich-girl-turned-beggar's-wife finds unexpected refuge and love among the dregs of society. Her new life is shattered when she discovers the origins of SOA, the deadly disease that's ravaging the twenty-second century. Its unexpected origins throw Clare back into her father's world, with devastating consequences to her new-found love. Fans of dystopian romances like "Divergent," "The Hunger Games," and "The Giver" will love this book! This book contains sensitive subject matter and at times, deals with mature themes.
