The story is made to be read to younger children, and be read by children 9-14 years in age. Anyone who loves the outdoors, loves fishing, and loves dogs, will find it fun.Note: Any reader will also suffer through my pencil drawings as well, since the story is set before the age of computer graphics!

  • Dolphin and Manatee Friends End to End: formerly Grant's Book of Manatees and Dolphins

    Bryce L. Meyer

Paperback (Trafford Publishing, Dec. 3, 2009)
This is the second book in a series. The previous book focused primarily on fishes, with two whale species. This one focuses on marine mammals, sea cows (mantees and dugongs) and seven species of dolphins world wide. It is essentially a tale of friendly encounters between these species (a little license is used here), showing a few of the great variety of dolphins and their relatives, from river dolphins to open ocean dolphins to shallow water dolphins. All animals are shown in real world ecosystems accompanied by the species they would share a habitat with (example dolphins, tuna, sardines, and shearwaters; or manatees, shrimp, sheepsheads, and snappers). At the end of the book is a review of each dolphin, sea cow, or fish, and an invitation for the read to (or reader) to find each dolphin, fish, and seacow in the pages of the book. Two of the dolphins are harder to find than the others! The pictures and story will get a smile from even the youngest or oldest audience, though it is fun for both reader and listener.

  • Meiklo Gets Better

    Bryce L Meyer

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Feb. 15, 2018)
Cancer is a very tough subject for children and adults. This story is taken from our pup's struggle but is written to help kids cope with cancer in humans too. In the book, Meiklo gets sick, is diagnosed, and undergoes rounds of chemotherapy to get better (go into remission). Pictures are drawn from real life, and words are meant to make this topic understandable for younger readers, with hope for puppies and humans, and the families that support people, and pets, with cancer. My wife and I have had grandparents, parents, and siblings with cancer, and our puppy too, as have most people. May it provide your young ones the most powerful weapon against cancer: hope. While written for children, I recommend having an adult to help too given the topic.
