An absolutely thrilling children's adventure story that easily surpasses all others. Witty and amusing with a fast paced journey that will leave the reader breathless. It is partly illustrated with authentic drawings by children aged six, nine and ten. From the moment the adventure begins, action upon action upon action makes for an unable to put down book that readers of all ages from Nine to Ninety can enjoy. It takes place in the 1940s when Britain is at war with Germany and The Royal Air Force struggles in the skies with a superior enemy in The Battle of Britain. The three Bollinger children, aged fourteen, twelve and ten, are called, in their spirit form, to battle against evil led by the fearsome, Most Evil One, Lucifer, in the Outer World and The Shadow Stream, where Lucifer resides. They encounter danger at every turn.In The Outer World, Violet, the eldest, becomes Seraphin, Peter, next in line, becomes Grendel and Isobel becomes Dolphina.Along the way, they meet machines that fly the children like kites, Maddykins, a zany but dangerous character; a singing, dancing giant Cyclops, evil Pixies, moving Statues, Matchstick figures, Lucifer's army, Dinosaurs,Clay Men, and vicious Mermen, all of whom are definitely not friendly! There is help, though, in the form of Genus, their fairy guardian; F.R.E.D., who is a delightful, rather effeminate and sensitive talking Dragon; a flying, talking carpet and a vacuum cleaner that also talks! The quest is to find eight segments of The Universal Stone, stolen from The Gods by Lucifer and hidden across the Outer World and The Shadow Stream. The children are to recover the segments and pass them onto The Gods, who will reassemble the pieces and stop Evil in its tracks. The trio have magical powers but will they be strong enough to defeat the mighty magic and followers of The Most Evil One?This book is full of tension with a nice spattering of humour making for a really top class read..
