Lovely, clean later printing of the first edition in clean original unclipped dust jacket. Red cloth boards with black lettering and illustration of children flying a kite on cover, black lettering and small decoration on spine. No fading, bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean with clean decorated endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Illustrated with over fifty silhouettes by Else Hasselris. 252 pages. Clean illustrated dust jacket is not price clipped, has small shallow chips at upper edge of rear panel (under 1/8"), slight wear at upper spine edge. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Awarded the Newbery Medal on October 4, 1926. A series of fascinating Chinese stories in which the author has caught admirably the spirit of Chinese life and thought.
