Life has not been easy for Vanessa Macmillan aka Nessa who at the age of twelve experiences a life altering event that will for ever change the way she looks at life. She has function and actually thrived living with a SECRET for the past four years until some unfortunate events take away the one constant in her life that made her feel like she could overcome anything, including this SECRET. Her father Robert Macmillan aka Mac a successful businessman, who on the surface has the perfect life, and is the constant in Nessa’s life separates from his wife (Lisa) of twenty years and merely months later tragically dies of a heart attack. Will his seemingly perfect life fall to pieces if and when Nessa’s SECRET is revealed? A SECRET that is surely to send shock waves throughout her family and forever fracture a family already in crisis, or will Uncle Jordan the best friend of Mac be able to keep this family together and not lose his own family in the process, while coming to the realization that he did not know his best friend Mac as well as he thought. Then we have Carl, Nessa’s older brother who has put his life on hold desperately trying to fill his father’s shoes, as well as Anna a straight A student who has always been able to avoid the pitfalls called life, she has a wonderful boyfriend (Andre) who is destined for greatness as a basketball superstar and they both have decided to forego sex until they marry. Will Andre succumb to peer-pressure and affect Anna’s life in a way she would never think he was capable of. Last but certainly not least we have Lisa the mother of Nessa and wife of Mac who is more concern with appearances and status than anything else and who will not allow family SECRETS to destroy the life she worked so hard to create. A Family in Crisis the Story of Nessa causes you to take a long look at your own family structure in a way you may not have considered. This book takes you on a journey of love, togetherness, lies, deception, and SECRETS that fortunately and unfortunately are a part of all family structure.
