  • A Daughter of the Sea

    Amy Le Feuvre

    Paperback (Curiosmith, March 13, 2015)
Una Carteret is an independent tomboy who loves shrimping and lobster-pots. When storms arise the fisher folk of the town collect at the beach to plunder pieces of the wrecked ships. Una is enraged by this injustice but fighting against it proves very dangerous. Many people are drifting in this small village and Jesus Christ is seen as a Lifeboat. Una said: “I know what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for me. This little boat I am standing in is a very poor type of what He is able to do for you. You are making shipwrecks of your souls, and He is the Lifeboat of the world. I found no real joy or peace till I stepped in.”

    Amy Le Feuvre

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 2, 2017)
Probable Sons is a sweet and inspiring story of a young girl whose efforts to translate the Bible lead her to apply each principle she finds to her own life. Sir Edward is a middle-aged man living in London in the late Victorian era, and is the uncle and last living relative of Millicent. Milly, as she likes to be known, is a curious and observant young girl living who takes a different approach to her daily Bible learning. Not content with merely reading or memorizing verses, she instead retells the stories to others and applies their lessons to her own life. Although Sir Edward is at first distant with his young niece, her keen devotion to the Biblical stories gradually sees him go from being aloof to becoming a warm and responsible father figure. We see how Milly's childlike beliefs in God are both a source of amusement but also inspiration; that all of us can do well to maintain such a simple but purehearted kind of faith. Amy Le Feuvre shows great skill and flair in presenting the thoughts and actions of the young Milly. The title of this story originates from Milly's mispronouncing 'Prodigal' as 'Probable', whilst reading the parable of The Prodigal Son. The humor still shines, and its moral, showing us the effects of faith in God on our family is a gentle but memorable reminder of the things which matter in life. This edition of Probable Sons is in large print, so that children and other family members may easily read the narrative aloud should they wish to.
