  • Ike Scarman and the Dinosaur Slavers of Ceres

    Adam Carter

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, May 5, 2016)
Doctor Ike Scarman has spent his entire life teaching university students about dinosaurs. When a survey team announces they are to visit the dinosaur world Ceres, he seizes the opportunity to join them. But Scarman is hardly prepared for the political problems which see almost the entire team abandon the world. Trapped in the company of soldiers, Scarman is forced to make a new life for himself in the midst of every palaeontologist’s dream. After sixty years Scarman has grown into the stereotypical image of a stuffy professor, but upon Ceres his every inhibition is released. When he uncovers a secret message from a captured princess, Ike Scarman makes it his personal mission to save her. Rescuing her from a group of poachers, he flees into the dangers of the dinosaur-infested forest. Dispatched to watch out for Scarman, Sergeant Hawke can see what the scientist’s failing mind cannot: that the ‘princess’ is nothing more than entertainment hired by the poachers for their long journey. Fearful of the girl’s influence, Hawke knows she has to find Scarman before the ageing scientist realises all too late that he is not the jungle pulp hero he’s convinced himself he is.

Deputy Rake asks Doc Tinkly to accompany him, hoping this could be his opportunity to declare his love to her. Tinkly, however, is more interested in setting Rake up with a nice girl that works in the big top. Meanwhile Bear’s own potential love, saloon owner Donna Belle, is having a difficult time convincing Bear to take the night off work so they can enjoy the experience together. As soon as the circus owner, Shana Cirque, sees a talking bear in a sheriff’s outfit she is determined to have him in her show and sets upon a fiendish quest to kidnap him. But there’s a stranger in town. Leo Manefire has made it his mission to kill Bear for crimes against his people and uses the circus as his means of sneaking into Grizzleton. A talking bipedal lion, Manefire holds the secrets to Bear’s past which have eluded him for so long. Rake, Tinkly, Belle and Bear … the whole of Grizzleton is forced to band together to foil the plans of the diabolical circus, prevent Manefire’s assassination attempt and uncover the answers to Bear’s past. If this blurb carries on much longer, though, you’ll find out the ending.

    Adam Carter

(CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, May 4, 2016)
Assassin, spy, smuggler; Matthew Redfern has been many things for his government. When someone is needed to sneak into the quarantined dinosaur world to gather eggs for study, Redfern and his partner are sent in. But taking a dinosaur egg from its mother is something Redfern soon discovers is far more difficult than anything he has attempted before. Lost and cut off from his partner, Redfern discovers a primitive, yet obnoxiously sassy girl named Cara. Enduring her coming of age trial, Cara watches Redfern perform magical feats with his superior technology and takes him back to her village as a deity. But Redfern’s reception is far from warm and as he begins to discover anachronisms within the village he soon realises that sometimes people are only as primitive as they want to seem. Eager to return to his shuttle before his partner strands him forever on the forbidden world, Redfern finds himself constantly delayed by his concern for Cara’s welfare. A no-nonsense assassin, Redfern cannot understand his constant frustration around the girl, especially since all they do together is argue. • Sheriff Grizzly & the Santa Claws Showdown

    Adam Carter

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 22, 2017)
His town: Grizzleton. His name: Bear. His secret: He’s a grizzly bear wearing a sheriff’s uniform … but doesn’t realise. On Christmas Eve, Doc Tinkly finds a wounded reindeer named Blitzen and fears this may ruin the big day. Bear and his deputies try to convince Tinkly that Blitzen is just a has-been actor, but Tinkly’s belief in Santa is just too strong. While they’re doing that, a polar bear named Percival appears in a Santa costume and no one knows what to think any more. Violent and voracious, Percival is surprised to find Bear in the town and his focus shifts from trying to eat Blitzen to trying to kill Bear. For Percival and Bear share a past the sheriff can’t remember, and are fighting over the woman back home who has won Bear’s heart. Six books in and we finally start to learn stuff about why Bear is a bear and why there are talking animals no one ever notices. Took long enough.
