Long sunny afternoons we frolicked in the earthworks of Redoubt Lytle or Fort Sheridan, racing around the banquette, crawling up over the parapet, sliding down the escarpment into the ditch, or popping through the sally-port, in I spy. If we fell out, the fitting epithets were ever at hand; we had but to ciacu late Reb l Yank and honors were easy. When relations became thus strained, we occupied youthful wits making impudent parodies on their war songs, and they did the same to ours.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
