  • A Winter Adventure

    A. H. Stewart

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Dec. 2, 2016)
The best stories all seem to have happened long ago or far away, but Poplar Morgan never dreamed that those were real times and places. That is, she didn’t until the day she fell through a cellar door into a land called Faraway. Then things like magick and fairies, or dragons and goblins were all too real. This Faraway place was as frightening as it was magical. There was trouble there that Poppy wasn’t sure she wanted anything to do with. The goblins had taken over and they held the people of Faraway prisoner behind walls of ice, where it was always winter. Poppy had the Winter Stone, though, and they told her this was the key to breaking the goblin’s spell. But getting the stone where it needed to be would be an adventure filled with danger. Even if she was brave enough to try, Poppy was afraid she wasn’t strong enough to save Faraway. Unfortunately, she was their last chance.

The Perfect way for your child to pass the time! Read for FREE with Amazon Unlimited and Amazon Prime! Studies show that students with a larger vocabulary are more successful in all areas of their scholastic careers. Reading comprehension is an essential skill in today’s competitive world. It has been argued that promoting independent daily reading sessions of 10-20 minutes with children is highly important for critical thinking (Krashen, 1993). It has also been observed that teaching children the context surrounding a word’s definition is an appropriate strategy for understanding why a word has its meaning (Kuhn and Stahl, 1998). Borrowing from modern foreign language learning software, this book offers a simple yet effective technique for vocabulary absorption and retention: image/word association. By capturing a child’s visual attention, concepts and terms can be imprinted on both a cognitive and an emotional level. This Easy-to-Read picture book is a perfect companion for a long car ride or relaxing on the weekend. Entertain your child while also allowing them to grow and thrive intellectually. Choose from one of several popular categories to pique their interest and encourage a love of reading!

    Stewart I J

Paperback (W. W. Norton and Company, Inc., Jan. 1, 1980)
The Feltons are a family with a long lineage stretching back beyond the Norman Conquest. They now have a daughter, Ianthe, but prior to her birth Tobias, or Toby, was fostered and then adopted as their heir after he had miraculously survived the sinking of a refugee ship by a German U-Boat. Then, someone who is clearly Toby's twin turns up as an under-gardener. He had been fostered by a Scottish couple, now dead. There is now general and disturbed confusion on everyone's part - including the boys themselves. Stewart explores magnificently the nature of the complicated relationships, including those from outside of the family such as Toby's lover; the irony of the situation; and the many ramifications of class and culture in the absurd situation the characters find themselves.
