Sammy McGann and the Secret Soup People

language ( March 16, 2017)
Sammy McGann was eleven and she’d had enough. She was fed up, bored and lonely. So she ran away from home.
But only for a couple of hours.
But it was life-changing, so she did it every day.
Her mother would have been horrified to know where Sammy was going, but that didn’t stop her from running away every day after school.
She hated being naughty. She didn’t like to lie to her mum, or disobey her, but her little expeditions to her secret place were far worth the risk of being grounded, if her mum ever found out.
And even though Sammy didn’t really like boys all that much, she met Toby, who changed her life. He wasn’t her boyfriend, because she was too young to have a boyfriend, but when he disappeared one day with his grandfather, Sammy was shattered. And that was when everything started to fall apart.
Not only does Sammy face near death, caught in the fury of a ravaging storm, she is about to face the most frightening fury of all, when her mum finds out what she's been up to.

This is a lovely tale about what's really important in life. It will make you laugh and cry, and it teaches children the values of life and how to appreciate the simple things that they have, and not to take them, or those around them for granted.
