The Witchtree Journals: Emily's Story

(Diane Greene Sept. 2, 2011) , 1 edition
Children's fantasy for girls age 10 - 14 years old. An enchanting time lapse mystery adventure which blends mythology, history and family saga.

Emily Millar records her struggle to deal with growing up in a complicated extended family, in her new journal - a thirteenth birthday present from her grandma. To her amazement the journal pages turn into a magic portal from which a strange boy, Jake, materialises. Together they jump into the portal and back in time. Emily needs to discover who she really is, and to find a mysterious key before she can return home again.

Plunged into all manner of adventures with her 19th and 20th Century ancestors - who include English aristocrats and Americans - Emily must protect them, and her own future existence, by fighting the shape-shifting Magipies. She also enjoys her first romantic encounter. Jake stays by her side throughout her journey, and the fabled wood nymphs of her grandma’s stories are never far away.

Emily unearths the lost key, and discovers that it opens the lock on a long forgotten old trunk. What she finds inside will affect her life forever. She returns to the 21st Century, but it’s only once safely back with her beloved grandma that she realises it was the people, young and old, whose worlds she had entered, and the adventures she has shared with them, which have changed her more profoundly even than the incredible secret in the trunk.
But she still has the biggest surprise of all to come!
