Despite being a child of alcoholic, abusive parents, a young boy named Roger learned early in his life to make choices that would assure success instead of failure, hope instead of despair, and a strong determination to lead others onto a smoother path. As a way of coping with a less than stellar upbringing, doodling became a unique way to escape the daily hardships. One day, the lines drawn took the shape of a silly looking bird who then etched a steadfast companionship and friendship in Roger's young mind. This stick figure with no name allowed a young child to use his imagination to create positive thoughts and ideas which have carried into his adult life. Now named Redgey, the drawing that once inspired a child to never give up, today symbolizes the purpose of this student journal; that of character education leadership development, and life skills.
