The Call of the Wild

The Call of the Wild, initially published in 1903, is one of Jack London's most enduring and well-known novels. This fantastic work of American historical literature takes us on the journey of Buck, a large dog with a wolfish appearance, as he negotiates the trials and tribulations of being abducted from his comfortable home in California and swept into the arduous life of becoming a sled dog in the frozen Yukon wilderness during the gold rush. In a true survival-of-the-fittest epic, Buck not only overcomes his many ordeals, but hears and responds to the call of the wild, where he ultimately sheds his burdens of captivity and becomes the alpha male of a wolf pack.
