This book not only has all the old delights of Viv Rosser’s other Marianne the Mermaid books in the series it also includes the additional educational tool of introducing comparatives as all competitions do. Add to that a subtle but clear moral lesson on how the mermaids work together through co-operation, empathy and consensus and not competition, proving who is the best and acknowledging only those who are better than others rather than effort and good intentions and you have a real spinner of a book for young children’s delight and education.
